Yadunandan College, Dighwara (a Constituent Unit of Jai Prakash University, Chapra, Saran) was founded as Jadunandan College in 1966 by the grace of a benevolent person Late Babu Jadunandan Singh of Village Gorainpur, Saran. He left no stone unturned for the development of this college throughout his life.

 

The College is easily accessible as it is situated just beside the National Highway 19 (NH19), midway between Hazipur (the district town of Vaishali district) and Chapra (the district town of Saran district). The distance of College from NH19 is just 100 meters. Dighwara Railway Station is situated at a distance of just 0.25 km from the College.

 

The location of the college is very attractive and beautiful. From the roof of the College, one can see communication of cars, autos, buses, and trucks on NH19 at the North, and goods, passenger and express trains at the South. The departments of the College are situated on the banks of a beautiful pond, making the atmosphere cool all the time. The greeneries spread around the College add to the beauty of the place and creates a peaceful atmosphere of teaching and learning. The sacred river the Ganges flows south to the College. There is a famous religious temple of ‘Maa Ambika Bhawani’ in the vicinity of the College. People from all over Bihar and UP visit the temple for Darshan and prayer.

 

The College caters the academic needs of economically weaker section of the society from Intermediate (10+2) to Undergraduate (Degree Honours) in the faculty of Science and Arts. About 3000 students, mostly hailing from the surrounding rural areas, enroll in the College every year.

The College hosts an IGNOU study centre. Graduate, Post Graduate, Diploma, and Certificates courses of IGNOU are offered to the non-attending students. Some specialized courses are also offered by the Centre for professional development of the students.

 

The College is dedicated to the service of the society and the nation through its NSS (National Service Scheme) unit. With the help of students, teachers organize various programme to help the local society.
